Birds galore
So, very late arrival and thus late departure the next morning. Kinda sorta. First things first, a very delicious breakfast at Neo Cafe on Willis. Pistachio Pancakes for the win!
After dragging our fat and well-fed carcasses back to the hotel, we managed to find our car in the garage, checked out and took off for Zealandia. One of my favorite places in NZ. Went there for the first time in 2005, when it was still called „Karori Wildlife Sanctuary“ and have been back a couple of times since. Always worth a visit! It seems like there’s more and more birds each year. Bit ironic that the Kiwis might well succeed in saving some of their native species from introduced pests and predators, but probably lose it all to the effects of climate change. Who cares as long as Big Ag makes big profits, eh? Anyway, Zealandia, lovely, beautiful. The weather was nice as well, so we walked around for roughly three hours through the beautiful native forest and bush and saw (and heard!) heaps of birds. Bliss!
