Winterwandern im Oberengadin
Oberengadin. Celerina. Back again. Same place, same hotel (Hotelino Petit Chalet), because why change if things are perfect?! Again, a super relaxed and punctual travel … Swiss from BER to ZRH, then via SBB and RhB to Celerina. Everything just works, even my luggage arrived relatively quickly and undamaged. Got settled into my room and went to have dinner at Bo’s Co, because again, why go elsewhere when there is nice, clean food to be had here? đ
After a relatively dry November, the region finally had plenty of snowfall over the weekend, so I arrived to a storybook winter wonderland on Monday. Tuesday saw the sun push the remaining clouds away – a brilliant day for hiking. Everything is perfectly signposted as usual in Switzerland. I opted to combine a bunch of snow hiking trails into a nice warm up lap, taking in the Inn river, St Moritz Lake, Stazerwald, and Lej Staz. Brilliant. It’s always amazing how different the same landscape looks in snow. I’ve managed to stay out of St Moritz and bypassed the hellhole on the lakeside track. You can tell that the season has not started yet – very few people around, mostly locals walking their dogs and some trailrunners in shorts … .
