Day 10-12: Paekakariki, Wellington

2008-01-08 Aus Von christiankohl

Montag morgen hatten wir dann einen early start off to the Kapiti Coast. We took the more scenic (keep in mind that scenic is only of value for the Reisebegleitung in the passenger seat, for the poor driver scenic means winding, fucked-up route) route SH4 via Wanganui city, had a much needed and well-deserved coffee-break there and then cruised along the coast towards Wellington. It started to rain lightly when we approached Paekakariki, by the time we had checked in it was already pouring. Nevermind, being a rain god I`m used to it. The lovely Reisebegleitung was not that stoic, but hey, what can you do? The Paekakariki hostel is really nice, large room, clean bath, clean, well-equipped kitchen. What else do you need? Perhaps the freshly made coffee and tea we got on arrival? Since it was raining cats and dogs we took the train to Wellington in the afternoon to buy a monstrously expensive rain jacket for the Reisebegleitung. I`m also in dire need of a haircut, the flowers have already started to grow out of my behind. Wellington added more rain and some wind to the wheather so we were quite glad when we had finally made it back to the hostel. The view from the living room was spectacular (the hostel is right on top of a cliff), a grey mist hung over the Tasman Sea, the wind was pushing thundering waves towards us … lovely. I sort of regretted not having my board with me – this were perfect left-hand breaks for longboards.

Wuff.
