Gorgeous Gorge
My legs were still a tiny little bit wobbly after the Te Kiekie run on the day before, but that didn’t stop us from heading over to the beautiful Rakaia Gorge and explore the Rakaia Gorge Track. Another real highlight, even though the weather had turned again with clouds, wind, and of course frequent patches of drizzle. The Rakaia River is truly impressive – and so are the cliffs it has carved out. Stretches of the track include native forest which was especially magical in the light rain. The only downside is the fucking jetboats on the river, they ruin the atmosphere. But of course money is sacred, so noone is allowed to criticize the holy jetboat operatorts of NZ. :-/
On the way back we stopped at the lovely Cafe Primo e Secundo in Methven again. I was intrigued by the reviews it had on the web, they were either enthusiastic or full of hate, so we decided to check it out ourselves. What can I say? A lovely place with friendly people, good food, so definitely worth a visit. It’s also a second-hand store, so very peculiar setting, real Kiwi style. đ
