What you gonna do when the grid goes down?

Southwest Berlin has been cut off from electricity supply since early morning Saturday, ca 5.30am January 3rd. Plus there’s snow and wind and temperatures below zero. No electricity also means no heating for almost everyone. Including us.

This was no accident, it was an act of sabotage. And I admit that I don’t really condemn it. I understand it and we will see more and more of this in the coming years.

I’m really disappointed in the reaction and especially the communication – or rather lack thereof. Absolutely embarrassing. Stromnetz Berlin is happy to take your money but can’t even communicate outages properly. Berlin senate will happily build fences around Görlitzer Park but has not managed to build resilience and a proper crisis response. Embarrassing, but of course not unexpected.

Anyway, we’re lucky bastards who can stay with friends for a few days. But of course not everybody has the money and flexibility. Hope everyone stays warm and safe, except for those who voted for CDUSPDFDPAFD, you brought this on yourselves.
