DRM
I wsa recently participating in a session at SSP 2011 which was about „eBooks“ – standards, best practices etc. etc. Moren than 50% of the session and 99% of the entire discussion part were about DRM though. Can you imagine – there’s 50 intelligent professionals in the room and all they can think about is DRM? Complete waste of time and resources.
One publisher that has been leading the industry for years now and setting an example how to do things right in e-publishing is O’Reilly. On one of their blogs, I found this interesting article about Harry Potter going eBook without (hard) DRM. As a bonus, JK Rowling doesn’t even need a boring, back-of-the-woods publisher any more.
